Ensuring students at Weeroona College Bendigo are nurtured as learners underpins our school vision. We recognize and support students who possess high skill levels in diverse areas requiring extension beyond the core curriculum.
Opportunities exist for identified students across Years Seven and Eight to participate in intensive literacy and numeracy programs provided in an external extension program. This aims to harness the inherent learning curiosity of each student within a smaller cohort of like-minded peers to accelerate learning through inquiry.
Students’ ability to critically analyse and create meaning on both inferential and literal levels, as well as increasing the mastery of advanced mathematical theory, is central to the focus of extension activities in the classroom.
In years nine and ten students can pursue electives that develop their interests in particular subject areas. They have opportunities with specialist teachers to develop skills in intellectual, physical, creative and advanced social areas both at school and in external programs.
