Sports Results 2013

Friday 17th May saw the Sandhurst Division Athletics Carnival held at the Latrobe University Athletics Complex, Flora Hill. It was fantastic to witness our student’s involved and striving to do their best.

Over the course of the day a variety of students won their particular event or events and will now represent the college in the Loddon Mallee Championships to be held at the same venue on Thursday October 10th. Weeroona finished the carnival winning their particular division pennants in both the Girls and the Boys divisions.

Below is a list of the students who won their particular events and will now represent WCB in the Loddon Mallee Athletics Carnival. Well done to all students involved throughout the course of the day.

Monday 20th May saw the Year 9 and 10 Sandhurst division soccer carnival staged at the Epsom Soccer complex. The day was played in mild but overcast conditions with a little rain at the end of the day.
The WCB Girls competed well throughout the day, being victorious in their first game against Eaglehawk Secondary College. The girls were well led up front by Kate G who was deadly in front of goals.
Weeroona were far from disgraced in their next 2 games against Bendigo South East Secondary College and Crusoe College, losing hard fought tussles in both games. Stronger players throughout the course of the day were Cait G, Jessica P, Georgia C and Karly M.
Well done to all girls involved.
The boys team worked extremely well collectively in all of their games. WCB were beaten 1-0 in their first match against Bendigo South East Secondary College. WCB most definitely had the chance to win the game but could not capitalize on several legitimate opportunities. The second game saw Weeroona have a resounding victory of East Loddon P12.
The semi final saw WCB take on Catholic College Bendigo in the Semi Final. In a very skilful and entertaining game Weeroona drew with the highly fancied CCB. The dreaded penalty shoot out would decide the finalist for the competition.

Amid much tension and excitement CCB won the shoot out by the narrowest of margins, 3-4. A frustrating and disappointing way to lose but a sensational effort by all the boys involved nonetheless.
A tremendous effort from all boys involved throughout the course of the day. Better players in a very even spread included goal keeper Paul C, defender Mick M and midfielders Bu Gay L and Eh S.
Well done to all including the individuals who helped with the set up and pack up of the day, lines people and to Mac Whittle for his efforts in refereeing all day.

The WCB Cross Country was staged on Wednesday 22nd May at picturesque Lake Weeroona.
The event was compulsory for Year 7 and 8 students and optional for Year 9 and 10 students. Many students competed with great determination and effort. This effort will see them represent Weeroona College Bendigo at the Sandhurst Division Cross Country to be held at Sebastian Harness Racing Complex on Tuesday 28th May.
Congratulations on the winners of each age group division. Below is the winner of each particular age group and the other individuals who placed in the top 5. These individuals will represent the college at the Sandhurst Division Cross Country.
