Weeroona College Bendigo
Weeroona College is located on the northern side of Bendigo and caters for approximately 700 Year 2 to Year 10 students. At the end of 2009 a decision was made by the college council to phase out the primary section of our school with no new students being enrolled in prep to year 6 from the beginning of 2010.
Weeroona College Bendigo has very strong educational partnerships with our associate primary schools, the local Bendigo year 7 to 10 colleges and Bendigo Senior Secondary College. We are part of the Bendigo Education Plan and our school is being totally rebuilt with all new facilities, to be completed by 2012, to support world class innovative teaching and learning.
All three stages of the new school have been completed. Our school now boasts four communities of students and staff enjoying state of the art facilities that allow for stage related learning for each individual student.
The new spaces are designed to provide for a wide range of flexible teaching and learning activities including: independent study, peer tutoring, small and large group work, project based learning, lecture based learning, seminar style learning, research, including use of the Internet, performances and presentations by students, learning by building and doing, community service, social and emotional learning and experimentation.
Our new learning environment features ecologically sustainable design features, including natural lighting and ventilation, the use of sustainable materials, and dispersed technology.
